Nokia N70-1

October 2, 2008 by krishna

I have just switched from Nokia 6020 to Nokia N70.
Formally known as Nokia N70-1 which is non-Music Version.

Dont know why people are interested in Music fones as Nokia is not that good with Music fones.

The search begins around Nagpur for the non-music version and the disappointment begins as this version was out of production by the Company for almost 18 Months.

What next ?

I remembered Mangya and me going to A.K.Gandhi [ Yastwant Stadium ] for my first fone i.e. Nokia 3310.

Atlast they had a couple of fone in stock and I was amazed to see that the model make was of Year 2006 and the actual price of the fone was 23000/- while i have now purchased for 9800/-

Why N70 ?

I don’t know how many fones around this price range have 3G support with video calling and 3G will do wonders to the way we work with our mobiles fones now a days. I dont like Edge or GPS which is quite slow and the cost compared to usage is pretty high on post and prepaid versions.

Here’s a small reviews about the features on the phone

Style and Looks :

It looks stylish with decent TFT Screen with good resolution in sun light too.

Key pad is a bit small compared to my earlier fones which were a lot more spacious.

I have drooped it a couple a times but it survived as traditionally Nokia Phones [ I have droped many fones of my friends which you normally tend to do not intentionally ].

Camera [ 2MP and VGA ] :

The image shooting in sunlight and at nights was good compared to some other fones.

Video shooting is Normal,  i was expecting a little bit more but disappointing it doesnt stand to its expectations.

I haven’t used the VGA Camera in the front as the quality of the image was poor as expected as this was meant for Video Calling.

Software / Apps :

You get  a lot of applications which are quite easy to use and this one is a added advantage for Symbian Phones.

Don’t overload your fone with useless Applications just like this one.

There’s a application for Torch which keep on the flash continiously, but the sadest part is if you use it for too long then you might end up damaging the flash.

There are n number of sites which provide  sis apps but download them with your own risk as these may or may not support your fone.

Media Player

The internal media player is okay for normal music lovers who didn’t need equalizers etc..

Connectivity :

The USB connectivity with PC Suite is pretty good compared to earlier versions and the updates get updated quite nicely with out any problem.

Blue-tooth is okay as it takes a bit more time in searching Non Nokia fone compared to Nokia series.

Features :

Quick office which has Excel, Word and PowerPoint works pretty okay as i have installed a pro version.

Adobe Reader is okey but its a hell of a task to read pdf files with zooming out and in.

Conclusion :

As these are most common features which you expect from any Nokia NSeries Phones, but the real fun begins when India Mobile phone Companies start providing 3G services in December 08.

Atlast Its not about features but about looks and the final conclusion is this one looks different from the rest of the pack.

Webaroo ! Sounds strange isint it ?
Most of my friends recieve sms messages from me ( as i have a sms group ngpgroup ) and the strange part is that i am charged for just a single message and the message is forwarded to every one in my group.
Some of you may think there must be some trick behind this but as a matter of fact there isnt any thing called hidden charges etc from their part, only you need to pay for a simple sms i.e. 1 rupee in my case.
So, why dont you too have a free sms group just like me.

Join them here  http://sms.webaroo.com/

Canadian GP

June 17, 2007 by krishna

Canadian GP was one of the best entertaining races i have seen for quite some time. May be in 2003 the Brazian Gp which was held in the rain, had almost 10-12 cars crashing out, Fisichella ( who was in Jordan Ford at that time) won the race.
Every one expects Monaco as the accident pron race but i guess most drivers are metally prepared to drive carefully at Montocarlo.
Saturday qualifing was full of excitement where Hamilton took the pole position.
On race day the circuit temperature was around 53 Degrees which was almost 15 degrees more than the room temperature. Hamilton and Alonso was on the the first grid on the circuit, where as the ferrari’s were on the 2nd grid. We had a tough race and a simultaneous wins for Lewis Hamilton and Alonso finishing 2nd. Ferrari’s arent far from the Mclarens and they finished 3rd and 4th.

Robert Kubica BMW driver had a terible accident and you could see the fotage of the accident below

BSNL DataOne Tools

May 28, 2007 by krishna

I have been finding it difficult to exactly find the usage details of my dataone connection for quite some time. After a bit of search over the internet i found some interesting tools which i would like to share with you.

1. Shaplus DataOne Usage tool (It is not open source)
This one was one of the first tool which worked but as said before its not a open source, so cant guarantee the security of your username and password. No open complaints have been recieved till date.
2. DUF( DataOne Usage Finder)
This one claims to be a open data source code but the reality is that it is hosted on sourceforge.net which hosts open source software, but you cant find the source of this software. I personally use this one as this one has a good graphicaly presentation of data with graphs, daily usages, cached pages etc..
3. Datafox
This one is a firefox [ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5471 ] extension and would only work with firefox. Its pretty lite compared to the other two but works pretty much same compared to other data usage finders. For Firefox users this one is a boom.

Atlast its you decession which one to use or stick to the traditional BSNL site if you dont have complete faith on any of these softwares.

Share your views and experiences about BSNL, its usage, difficulties etc….
Would be happy to help you with your problems..

Ares : The best P2P Software

May 11, 2007 by krishna

ares.gif
Ares means Greek god of war and is a symbol of physical strength, war, and masculinity which truly fits to Ares P2P software.
Ares is a open source code which makes it free and reliable compared to limewire etc..
Ares is lite weight yet reliable, supports multisource downloads, support torrent files, has a inbuilt playback player, has chat servers and you could also browse web pages simultaneously.
You would glad to know its has a g8t collection of hindi files which is realrly found in other p2p softwares.
The interface is pretty good and makes it easy to use for profensional to layman.

Download it from here Link
File size : 2.1mb
Comments awaited…….

Atlast I am on BroadBand !

April 26, 2007 by krishna

For the past year i was thinking to shift from Dailup to Broadband but as the usage at home isnt that much ( me and my bro use it for surfing no downloads ) so never felt the need of high speed internet.
As my father being in BSNL he was offered a BB connection at concession rates just thought of shifting it to Broadband.
Here begins the usual story
Applied for the connection, waited for a month, got the modem and with some help of my friends ( Mangesh and Nilesh) finally installed and began using it for the past 2 days.

I am on plan Home 250 which means my bandwidth limit cant be more than 1 gb which i have just crossed 150 mb in a day ;-)
The speed was amazing ( it touched 170kbps ) while downloading some pdf files.
I would be happy if you want to share your experiences.

Formula One is back with a bang !

March 18, 2007 by krishna

Many F1 fans tought Formula One wouldnt be same after Micheal moving out
of the sport but the every thing gets settled in course of time.
The season began with most of the drivers moving from their old team to new once.
Some of them are

1. Kimi moving from Mclaren to Ferrari
2. Alonso moving from Renault to Mclaren
3. Weber from Williams to Redbull

We also have some new rookie drivers in some big teams like Renault and Mclaren
Mclaren bought a new English driver Lewis Hamilton and Renault introducing Heikki Kovalainen.

Kimi look a bit stiff and didnt seem to be having the same comfort as he was in Mclaren but it will take some time to really get in ferrari, while Alonso seamlessly moved from Renault to Mclaren.

The qualifying results shock some teams including Ferrari’s Filepa Massa who had a grear box failure and didnt qualify.

Kimi took the pole postion while Alonso and Hamilton shared 2nd and 3rd.
On race day thing ended up same as pundits expected.
Kimi on pole, Alonso 2nd and Debutant Hamilton finishing 3rd.
Massa started from back of the grid ( because he had a engine change) and ended with 6th position after Renault’s Giancarlo Fisichella.
Last year world champions must be disappointed with the results.

Its was a classic race for all f1 fans who missed the action for almost 5 months.
There is some what a large gap of almost a month as most teams have been given time by FIA to do some testing on their machines.
Check out this site for race Images
